Main Characters (nameable characters): Lucas In the world of MOTHER 3, Lucas is the central protagonist taking on the hero role that both Ness and Ninten took in EarthBound(MOTHER 2) and MOTHER. He lives with his twin brother, Claus, his mother, Hinawa, and his father, Flint, in the outskirts of Tazmily Village on Nowhere Island. He also has a loyal pet dog named Boney. Of the two twins, Lucas is the weaker one, often referred to as a crybaby. He is described by series creator Shigesato Itoi as a gentle boy. He bears a remarkable resemblance to Ness from EarthBound(MOTHER 2) in both physical appearance and lack of dialogue. Compared to the hero characters of the two MOTHER games prior to this one, Lucas experiences more growth throughout the story, both physically and emotionally. His family members are deeply tied to MOTHER 3's story. His weapon of choice is a trusty slice of timber, but he'll try out a yo-yo or baseball bat if given the opportunity. Through the help of the Magypsies, Lucas learns PSI skills to aid his team during battle. His signature ability is PK LOVE. Claus Lucas's outgoing twin brother. His rowdiness and impatience gets him into trouble sometimes, but Lucas is always there to cool him down. Hinawa Flint's wife and the mother of the twins, Lucas and Claus. Flint Lucas and Claus's devoted father. He is married to Hinawa. Flint is a real powerhouse, which is useful because he'll be the only one in the party most of the time you use him. He brandishes a hefty plank of wood as his weapon. He also has a few skills that are either super attacks or that bolster his stats. Enjoy him while you can. Boney The brave pet of Lucas and his family. He's the fastest character and will usually attack first, but unfortunately he has dismal offence and defense. Give him a lot of healing and offensive items to make him useful. Boney also has a special ability, Sniff, that lets him scope out an enemy's stats, like Jeff's Spy. While it's kind of useless if you don't know Japanese, it will come in handy during a few boss fights. Like Poo, he only has one weapon found late in the game, and just uses his teeth to attack (unlike Poo). Duster A thief with a limp who has mastered many useful thief skills. He can use his Wall Staple to climb walls or pin down enemies, and his Hypnotic Pendulum can put enemies to sleep and make it easier to combo. He's decently fast and strong, and every now and then he performs a preemptive attack on the enemy. His weapon of choice is his shoes, which must mean his other leg is pretty strong. He doesn't know any PSI, so keep a few healing items in his inventory. Kumatora A punky princess with a tomboy attitude. She often refers to herself with "Ore," a masculine first-person pronoun, and has a foul mouth unbefitting a princess. She was raised by the Magypsies, so you can probably blame them. Kumatora is the main PSI user in the party, but her high PP and IQ means she has low HP, speed and power. The PSI definitely makes up for it though; don't be afraid to completely ignore her physical attack. Her weapon of choice is a pair of gloves. Salsa A cute little monkey held captive by Yokuba. Although he's adorable, he's not too strong of a fighter. Use his special monkey-skills and let Yokuba take care of the fighting. Friendly Characters: Alec Hinawa's father, Flint's father-in-law, and the twins' grandfather. In the beginning of the game, it's his house the family is visiting. Wes Duster's father and a master thief. He's a little mean to his son, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love him. Magypsies Strange okamas who live in giant shells and know the secrets of PSI. Dragos Contrary to their appearance, these giant lizards are quite friendly and enjoy playing with Lucas and Claus. They live on top of the mountains north of Tazmily Village near Alec's cabin. Frog These strange frogs appear throughout the Nowhere Islands and help you save your progress. You can even find them in barrels and floating with balloons. Not-so-Friendly Characters: Pigmasks Things were going fine on the Nowhere Islands until these guys showed up. Yokuba This greedy man controls Salsa and gives him a shock whenever he disobeys him. He has a distinctive "Nuhahaha" laugh and loves bananas. Reconstructed Caribou A half-robot half-caribou is left by the Pigmasks to attack Flint and Duster. A sign of things to come...? Clay Guy Golems made of clay and powered by electricity that mindlessly do the Pigmasks' bidding.
